“Victorious Festival 2025: Highlights and Controversies”

Must read

Samantha Bartlett, an Assistant Editor of Social News at Reach Plc, enjoys attending festivals, especially the Victorious Festival in Portsmouth. Despite some controversies this year, she believes the event remains a highlight of the summer season.

The festival faced initial turmoil when The Mary Wallopers had their performance cut short for displaying the Palestinian flag and chanting “free Palestine.” This led to other artists withdrawing in solidarity. The festival organizers later issued an apology, emphasizing their support for artists’ right to express views within the event’s inclusive framework.

Further disruptions occurred when comedian Chris McCausland had to cancel his appearance due to illness. Local acts like Crystal Tides and Marley Blandford stepped in to fill the gaps, with Marley impressing the crowd despite initial confusion over his set.

Despite these challenges, the festival featured stellar performances from renowned acts like Queens of the Stone Age, Vampire Weekend, Nelly Furtado, and Kings of Leon. Additionally, Rizzle Kicks, Scouting for Girls, and Craig David delivered electrifying shows, while the Kaiser Chiefs replaced Michael Kiwanuka and entertained the audience.

The Kids Arena offered a range of activities for children, including princess parties and karaoke. However, the absence of the comedy tent, where Joel Dommett struggled to engage with the audience, was noted. The festival’s layout adjustments, necessitated by new sea defenses, caused some confusion among attendees.

In a crowded UK festival scene, Victorious Festival stands out for its blend of mainstream and emerging artists in a scenic location. Set near the water, attendees can enjoy beach breaks amidst performances and explore historical landmarks like Southsea Castle.

Early Bird tickets for Victorious Festival 2026 are already available, catering to both day visitors and campers. Prices start at £70 for a day ticket and £179 for an adult weekend ticket without camping.

Attendees can expect an immersive music experience against the backdrop of Portsmouth’s picturesque surroundings.
