“US Officials Slam Prince Andrew Over Epstein Probe Silence”

Must read

US officials have criticized Andrew Mountbatten Windsor for his lack of response to an investigation into his connection with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Lawmakers in America have urged the former prince to appear in the US and provide testimony on his close association with the financier as part of a broader inquiry into Epstein’s illegal activities. Andrew’s royal and military titles have been revoked due to mounting pressure both domestically and internationally.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform requested Andrew to participate in a recorded interview, but he has vehemently denied all accusations against him. Despite a letter signed by 16 members of Congress urging him to respond by November 20, Andrew allegedly did not meet the deadline, according to two committee members.

Democratic representatives Robert Garcia and Suhas Subramanyam criticized Andrew’s silence, stating that it signifies a significant issue. While the committee lacks the authority to compel non-US citizens or foreign nationals outside the US to testify, they emphasized their commitment to holding all individuals involved in the crimes accountable, regardless of their status or wealth.

Following the release of a posthumous memoir by Virginia Giuffre, where she accused Andrew of engaging in sexual activities with her when she was 17, the pressure on Andrew has intensified. He voluntarily relinquished his Duke of York title shortly before the book’s publication. In a significant move, King Charles announced the removal of his brother’s royal titles and privileges, ejecting Andrew from the Royal Lodge mansion.

In a related development, Donald Trump, who has also faced scrutiny over his relationship with Epstein, eventually signed legislation permitting the release of the Epstein files, following months of delay. This decision came after a 427-1 House vote and unanimous Senate endorsement, signaling Trump’s response to mounting pressure for transparency.
