“Trump’s 2nd Term: More Erratic Behavior Than Ever?”

Must read

Since resuming office earlier this year, Trump has displayed a willingness to challenge norms in ways that surpass even the tumult of his initial term. Do you believe he is now more erratic than before?

During 2017-2021, he often acted unpredictably, engaged in confrontations on social media platforms like Twitter (now referred to as X), and frequently made impulsive policy decisions. However, in his current term, his actions appear to have escalated significantly.

The instances of his unconventional behavior this year are numerous, such as issuing aggressive tariff warnings, attempting to prevent children born in the U.S. to immigrant parents from obtaining citizenship, and utilizing the centuries-old Alien Enemies Act to authorize mass deportations of Venezuelans linked to gangs.

He has also taken punitive measures against individuals associated with the International Criminal Court merely for investigating the U.S. or its allies and has criticized judges who ruled against him.

In recent days, he has stirred controversy among scientists and medical regulators by alleging a link between paracetamol and autism in babies. Despite this, NHS guidelines emphasize that paracetamol is the safest treatment for pain and high fever during pregnancy to prevent birth defects.

Trump has also made false claims about his approval ratings during a speech at the UN general assembly, stating he has the highest numbers ever, although his average approval rating currently hovers in the low 40s, a decline from over 50% when he first took office. He remains the least favored president at this point in his presidency.

Furthermore, he criticized UN delegates, stating that their countries are “going to hell,” particularly in his harsh remarks on immigration.

He has also dismissed climate change as a hoax and urged political figures to expand oil drilling in the North Sea. Trump’s denial of the Paris Climate Accord, to which most attendees are signatories, added to the controversy.

While Trump’s second term has been marked by unconventional statements and questionable policies, there have been positive developments. Some major companies have relocated manufacturing and investments back to the U.S., a trend Trump attributes to his trade initiatives.

His relaxed regulations on AI and technology have stimulated private investments in innovative technologies, leading to a decrease in illegal border crossings and prioritizing the deportation of criminal migrants.
