After returning to the Oval Office in Washington DC, Donald Trump, known for his affinity for fast food like KFC, Domino’s, and McDonald’s, had the iconic Diet Coke button reinstalled. The button, hidden in a wooden box on the Resolute Desk, allows Trump to request a glass of Diet Coke with ease, a feature he frequently used during his previous presidency.
Joe Biden, upon assuming office in 2021, had removed the button as visitors had mistaken it for a nuclear button. The Oval Office underwent a makeover to align with the new president’s preferences, with staff spending approximately five hours cleaning and arranging the space.
Despite the redesign, Trump maintained some items left by his predecessor, including a portrait of Benjamin Franklin and a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. Additionally, Trump, a native of New York City, has already granted pardons to some of the individuals involved in the January 6th insurrection, some of whom have been released from jail.
Kevin Loftus, previously sentenced for violating probation, expressed his intention to frame the pardon from Trump, stating, “I’m just a working man, dude. People like us don’t get presidential pardons.” John Pierce, an attorney representing January 6 defendants, praised Trump’s pardons, acknowledging the courage it took to grant them amidst opposition within his own party.
