A trainer overseeing only two horses achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown. The race featured entries from top stables in Ireland, including Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as Rocky’s Diamond, the fourth-place finisher in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.
Despite facing tough competition, Connor King, the trainer, outperformed all others with Oscars Brother, piloted by his brother Daniel, who expertly guided the seven-year-old to victory at the County Kildare track. Maintaining a leading position throughout the race, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, delivered a strong finish, crossing the line three lengths ahead of Koktail Divin from De Bromhead’s stable.
Before the three-mile contest on soft to heavy ground at Galway, Oscars Brother had prepared diligently. The duo now anticipates the possibility of having a Grade One caliber horse in their stable, which currently trains only one other thoroughbred.
Daniel expressed his delight in securing a significant win for his brother, praising Oscars Brother’s qualities and the competitive nature of the race. The brothers aim to continue the horse’s progress, potentially targeting the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick during the Christmas season. Connor, reflecting on the horse’s transition from hurdles to chasing, highlighted the strategic approach in selecting races for Oscars Brother’s development.
