“Train Stabbing in Cambridgeshire Not Terror-Related”

Must read

Saturday’s brutal stabbing incident on a train in Cambridgeshire is not categorized as an act of terrorism, according to the Home Secretary. Shabana Mahmood provided an update confirming that two suspects, both British-born nationals, were apprehended at the scene in Huntingdon. She commended the swift response of emergency services and lauded the “remarkable bravery” shown by both staff and passengers aboard the LNER train.

Authorities disclosed that a 32-year-old British male and a 35-year-old man of Caribbean descent, also a British national, are currently in custody. The chilling attack resulted in eleven individuals sustaining injuries, nine of which were severe, on a London-bound train. Fortunately, four of the victims have already been discharged from the hospital. The stabbings occurred shortly after the train made a stop in Peterborough.

British Transport Police Superintendent John Loveless labeled the incident as “shocking” and refrained from speculating on the motives behind the stabbings. The initial arrest was made just eight minutes after the attack was reported. Despite the involvement of counter-terrorism policing at the onset, there is currently no indication that the incident is related to terrorism.

The harrowing assault transpired on a train departing from Peterborough station in Cambridgeshire at 7:42 pm. It was reported that police deployed a Taser against a man wielding a large knife during the incident. British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed that two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the assault that occurred on the 6:25 pm service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross on Saturday.
