Tragic Tenerife Hotel Fire Claims Young Tourist’s Life

Must read

A tragic fire engulfed a holiday hotel in Tenerife while a 23-year-old guest fell to his death from a third-floor balcony during the incident. The incident occurred at the upscale Melia Costa Atlantis Hotel in the city of Puerto de la Cruz. Approximately 490 guests, including several British nationals, were evacuated and gathered outside the hotel as firefighters swiftly responded to the scene. The identity of the deceased tourist who fell from the balcony in the room where the fire originated has not been disclosed yet.

Authorities are currently probing the cause of the fire, with local reports suggesting that a mattress in the room may have ignited. Emergency services confirmed the fatality and extinguished the fire early the next morning. A statement from the authorities indicated that emergency calls reporting the fire came in just after 9 pm the previous night, prompting a rapid response from firefighters, ambulances, and police. The hotel evacuation was initiated upon their arrival, during which the tragic balcony fall took place. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The hotel management has refrained from making any official statements on social media regarding the incident. Fortunately, the evacuated guests were unharmed and were allowed to return to their rooms shortly after the evacuation.

This unfortunate event follows a similar tragedy earlier in the year when a British teenager died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Spain. The 19-year-old tourist met a fatal end at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel on July 14, in the same resort area of San Antonio where another holidaymaker, Evan Thomson, 26, tragically lost his life two weeks prior.
