“Tragic Murder-Suicide: Mother and Child Found Deceased”

Must read

A mother and her eight-year-old daughter, described as a “genius,” were found deceased two years after the mother had been admitted to a psychiatric facility. The bodies of Tiffany Wilkes, a 54-year-old anaesthetist, and her daughter Clementine were discovered on September 29 at a luxurious Airbnb in Kenmore Hills, Brisbane.

Surveillance footage captured Wilkes disposing of garbage less than a day before the bodies were found outside the residence. Authorities are investigating the case as a possible murder-suicide after conducting a welfare check prompted by an email Wilkes sent to a colleague outlining her intentions.

Concerns have been raised about potential missed opportunities to safeguard the child, as Wilkes had a history of mental health issues and her daughter had shown signs of school absenteeism. Despite Wilkes’ professional success and the child’s academic achievements, there were no reported contacts made to the Queensland Child Safety Department regarding Clementine’s welfare.

Wilkes had previously posted about her daughter’s exceptional qualities and had withdrawn her from traditional schooling, opting for state homeschooling. She had also been observed struggling with her mental health and relocating frequently. On the day of the tragic discovery, a black Mercedes A200 parked nearby was marked with forensic detection materials, indicating police awareness of the vehicle.

Dr. Wilkes, a well-regarded specialist in the medical field, had worked at various major hospitals in Queensland for over a decade. While authorities continue to investigate, questions persist about where the young girl received education, considering that neither she nor her mother resided at a property owned by Wilkes.
