A globally shocking incident unfolded as surveillance footage captured a 12-year-old girl returning home from school, only to tragically vanish and later be discovered deceased in a trunk near her parents’ workplace.
The distressing revelation unveiled the harrowing ordeal endured by the young victim, involving alleged rape, torture, and murder at the hands of Dahbia Benkired, a 24-year-old Algerian woman residing in the same apartment complex along with her sister. Benkired, who was under orders to leave France, reportedly carried out the heinous act in a vengeful retaliation after the girl’s mother denied her access to the apartment block.
During the court proceedings this week, disturbing details emerged, including a graphic video showing the accused dragging a trunk containing the girl’s body into a bar, where the tragic sequence of events leading to the victim’s death unfolded. The court learned that the victim, Lola Daviet, suffered a series of brutal assaults, including rape, scissor and box cutter attacks, partial decapitation, and asphyxiation, allegedly inflicted by Benkired.
Medical testimony revealed that Lola had sustained 38 wounds on her back and neck before succumbing to asphyxia. The court was presented with images depicting the extent of her injuries, emphasizing the physical, psychological, and emotional trauma endured by the young girl.
Additional distressing revelations highlighted the appalling extent of Lola’s injuries, including visible trauma to her genitals and a range of hemorrhagic injuries. Benkired was accused of subjecting the child to further horrors, such as forced sexual acts and severe facial and bodily wounds, before callously parading her body around Paris in a trunk.
Benkired, who settled in France in 2013 but faced deportation following a visa violation, confessed to the crime upon police interrogation and expressed remorse to the victim’s family as the trial commenced. The accused recounted a troubled past marked by abuse and trauma, asserting a mental breakdown following her parents’ deaths and resorting to substance abuse as a coping mechanism.
In a poignant plea for justice, Lola’s mother and brother demanded accountability, urging the accused to reveal the full truth behind the devastating incident. As the trial progresses, the court is tasked with establishing motive and circumstances, with Benkired facing a potential life sentence under French law.
