“Tragic Grand Canyon Fall Claims 65-Year-Old Man”

Must read

A 65-year-old man tragically passed away after slipping off the edge of the Grand Canyon. The unfortunate incident occurred at Guano Point on the western rim of the canyon within the Hualapai Reservation, as reported by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the incident, the sheriff’s office collaborated with Hualapai Nation technicians who utilized ropes to establish a pulley system. This system was then lowered into the canyon to retrieve the man’s body on Thursday afternoon. The sheriff’s office mentioned that the victim was found approximately 130 feet down on a scree pile, and technical rope technicians were instrumental in setting up a mechanism to recover his body and transport it to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Acknowledging the collaborative effort in the recovery operation, the sheriff’s office expressed gratitude to the Hualapai Tribal Police Department, Hualapai Nation Fire, and Grand Canyon West Security for their support. The office extended condolences to the deceased man’s family and requested privacy for them during this difficult time.

The identity of the deceased individual has not been disclosed, and his body was transferred to the Mohave County Medical Examiner’s Office for further procedures. This incident follows a similar tragedy in September when a 27-year-old man, identified as Steven Bradley from Federal Heights, Colorado, lost his life in Grand Canyon National Park after his vehicle went over a rim near the South Kaibab Trailhead. Bradley’s body was discovered approximately 300 feet below the rim.
