Must read

The equestrian community in Britain is in mourning following the tragic death of a rider who passed away after falling from her horse during a competition at the Aston-le-Walls Horse Trials in Northamptonshire. Sarah Yorke, aged 37, was participating in the event when the incident occurred.

Despite immediate medical attention after her fall at fence three, Sarah Yorke could not be saved, as confirmed by a statement from British Eventing. Fortunately, her horse, MGH HERA, was unharmed and safely returned to the stable after being examined by on-site veterinarians.

The competition, which included dressage, cross-country, and show jumping phases, was canceled by British Eventing officials on Saturday in light of the tragic event. Sarah Yorke, who had previously emerged victorious, was riding in the BE100 class for the first time with her seven-year-old mount.

Rosie Williams, the Chief Executive of British Eventing, expressed heartfelt condolences to Sarah’s family and friends on behalf of the organization. The entire eventing community stands in solidarity with them during this challenging period.

The governing body of the sport announced a comprehensive review of the incident and highlighted the availability of the BE Support Trust helpline for those affected. The British Eventing Support Trust also offered support in partnership with Sporting Chance, providing access to mental health professionals for anyone in need of assistance during this difficult time.
