The Repair Shop’s Will Kirk admits ‘I’ve moved’ as he opens up on big family decision

Must read

Will Kirk, a familiar face from The Repair Shop, has given fans a glimpse into his personal life, discussing the significant move he made for the wellbeing of his wife and kids.

During an appearance on Alan Titchmarsh’s Love Your Weekend, Will opened up about his work, private life, and the big leap of relocating from London.

The programme kicked off with Alan saying, “Since you were on here back in 2021, things have happened to you. You’ve got two children now. You’re now a dad with responsibilities and a lack of sleep.”

Laughing, Will responded, “So I have a boy and a girl. My daughter is just over two and a half, and my son is three months.”

“Sleep deprivation, you know all about that,” teased Alan, with Will agreeing, “Yeah, I know all about that,” reports the Express.

On the topic of family crafts, Will was quick to confirm they get creative at home. He revealed, “So since I last saw you, I moved from a flat in London, and I’ve moved out to Surrey in a Victorian house, and I’ve been doing a lot of gardening.”

Adding to the conversation about hobbies, Will mentioned, “I’ve been looking online at some of your videos about how to sow seeds and things like that. You make you look very easy.”

Alan imparted, “Well, if you know how, as you know, you can make it look easy. Well, it is easy if you know how to do it; that’s the key.”

Alan then shifted focus to the challenge of balancing road trips for The Repair Shop with spending time at home.

Alan curiously asked, “It must transform your life to some extent, of doing that, rather than just running a business where you are repairing without being noticed, as it were.”

“Massively,” Will admitted, revealing the impact on his life: “Back in my workshop, before Repair Shop days, I’d be working seven days a week, all hours, whereas now I get to sort of finish at a reasonable time and get back to spend time with the family, which is really important.”

“At the moment, I have got it right,” the craftsman confidently declared.

During another part of the conversation, Will opened up about leaving London and setting up a new home: “I have got a garden,” he said cheerfully, contrasting it with his past urban dwelling: “So back in London, I had a balcony with a few dying plants, and now I have got a garden.

“And my wife was very firm with, ‘Let’s start with the inside of the house first before we paint the front door and start doing the garden,’ and I went straight to the garden.”

Narrating an amusing anecdote involving the show’s host, he concluded, “The people before us had a hot tub there. There is a big, brown patch, and I thought, ‘What would Alan do?'”.

Love Your Weekend returns on Sunday at 9.30am on ITV.
