The Chase and Tipping Point fans will notice a major change today as ITV have announced a schedule shakeups with the fan-favourite daytime hits being pulled off air.
The channels have ditched normal programming this afternoon and instead will coverage of President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
The ceremony will kick off at 5pm, where viewers will see Mr Trump, 78, make his return to the White House with his wife Melania, 54, by his side.
The former US president secured victory over Kamala Harris in the November elections, succeeding Joe Biden.
As a result, ITV hit gameshow Tipping Point, hosted by This Morning presenter Ben Shephard has been axed from the schedule.
Bradley Walsh’s The Chase has also met a similar fate. The popular quiz show, which has been a staple of ITV’s schedule for over a decade, continues to attract millions of viewers with its challenging questions.
ITV’s special show will run for two hours, from 4pm and also into their evening news bulletin. ITV News broadcaster Tom Bradby will present the two-hour special live from Washington, D.C., as Trump is sworn in for another term.
The schedule change is just for one day and all programmes will return back to normal on Tuesday.
Elsewhere a number of popular BBC shows have also been taken off air including long-running quiz show Pointless with Alexander Armstrong.
Fans have wasted no time sharing their reaction online and it’s clear most are far from impressed. One viewer took to X, formaly known as Twitter and said: “Why the f*** have they took #TheChase off and moved #DealOrNoDeal just for Trumps inauguration? Who gives about that over here.” (sic)
Another fumed: “Can’t believe Trump is on instead of #TheChase.” A third wrote: “I’m fuming Ange” No Tipping Point or The Chase on TV this afternoon because Trump is on every chuffing channel 4pm until 6pm #Trump #Lingo #TheChase.” (sic)
Meanwhile one added: “What’s going to make me blue is 2 hours of the president’s inauguration from 4pm – 6pm on every chuffing channel! I want to watch #Lingo and #TheChase.” (sic)
