“Tesco Mobile Extends Free EU Roaming Through 2026”

Must read

Tesco Mobile has prolonged its complimentary roaming policy, allowing its customers to utilize their minutes, texts, and data without any additional charges while traveling in Europe.

Following the UK’s exit from the EU, UK residents have been excluded from the EU’s 2022 Roaming Regulations, which prohibit mobile operators from imposing extra fees on customers when using their phones in other EU countries.

While some providers have chosen to maintain the benefit for their customers, others have started implementing significant charges. Tesco Mobile recently declared that it will continue to offer free texts, calls, and data across 48 EU destinations “into 2026 and beyond.” Initially, Tesco Mobile had suggested that this perk might end at the start of the upcoming year.

Laura Joseph, the chief customer officer at Tesco Mobile, emphasized the importance of staying connected for families, whether it’s sharing vacation photos, keeping in touch with loved ones, or navigating unfamiliar places. She expressed pride in extending the roaming offer, enabling customers to use their UK data, minutes, and texts in 48 EU and other destinations at no extra cost. This move aims to provide customers with seamless connectivity without the hassle of setup, hidden fees, or stress while traveling.

Various major mobile providers in the UK have differing roaming charges for EU countries. For instance, EE offers roaming in its European zone, including most European countries, for £2.50 per day until midnight UK time. Customers can use their allowances without opting in, only paying if they exceed their limits. O2 provides free data roaming in the EU, with a 25GB roaming limit for monthly data exceeding 25GB in their Europe Zone, offering additional data through a ‘bolt on’ purchase.

Additionally, other providers like Three, BT Mobile, and GiffGaff have their unique roaming policies for EU and selected destinations, ensuring customers can use their allowances without extra charges. Each provider has specific terms and conditions for roaming usage, including fair use limits and additional roaming packages for extended connectivity during travels.
