Tennis icon Roger Federer has joined the billionaire club, marking his financial milestone post-retirement in 2019. Federer, aged 44, achieved this feat with a net worth of $1.1 billion (£813 million), making him one of the wealthiest sports personalities globally.
Throughout his illustrious career, Federer clinched an impressive 20 Grand Slam singles titles, a record surpassed only by Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal. His financial success stems from diverse revenue streams, including endorsements, appearances, and business ventures, outpacing his peers Djokovic and Nadal in earnings.
A significant contributor to Federer’s billionaire status is his partnership with Swiss shoe and apparel brand On. Acquiring a three percent stake in the company in 2019, Federer’s investment has proven lucrative, with On’s valuation soaring to nearly $15 billion (£11.1 billion) after its listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021.
In addition to his stake in On, Federer amassed substantial pre-tax earnings of around $1 billion (£739 million) from lucrative sponsorship deals with renowned brands such as Lindt, Mercedes-Benz, Rolex, Moet & Chandon, Nike, and Uniqlo. His financial prowess solidifies his position as one of the few sports personalities to ascend to billionaire status.
Joining Federer in the billionaire league are notable figures like basketball icons Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James, football superstars Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and golfer Tiger Woods. The late basketball star Junior Bridgeman also made the list with an estimated worth of $1.4 billion (£1 billion) at the time of his passing in March.
Sky has rolled out discounted rates for its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering savings of £336 and access to over 1,400 live matches across various leagues, including the Premier League and EFL.
