Teen Triple Murder Sentencing Thursday

Must read

Axel Rudakubana is set to receive his sentencing on Thursday for the horrific triple murder of three young girls that deeply affected the nation.

The 18-year-old perpetrator entered a guilty plea at Liverpool Crown Court for the killing of Elsie Dot Stancombe, Bebe King, and Alice da Silva Aguiar on July 29. Additionally, Rudakubana confessed to multiple charges, including attempting to murder eight children and two adults, producing ricin, and possessing a terrorist document.

Originally from Cardiff, Rudakubana’s family moved to Banks, near Southport, when he was 11. Described as an introverted individual, his parents were characterized as an ordinary couple striving to adapt to their new surroundings.

His father, Alphonse, a hardworking taxi driver with a background in martial arts, migrated to the UK from Rwanda, a country scarred by a tragic genocide in the early 1990s. The family lived in a modest house in Banks, where Alphonse pursued his passion for martial arts.

Rudakubana’s mother previously worked in administration at Cardiff University’s school of dentistry before becoming a stay-at-home mother to their two sons. The killer’s older brother was noted for his lively nature compared to Rudakubana’s reserved demeanor.

Expelled from school around 2019 due to racial bullying claims and violent intentions, Rudakubana, diagnosed with autism, faced challenges in his educational journey. Despite low attendance and concerning behavior at specialist schools, he was referred multiple times to the Prevent anti-terrorism program.

Before the tragic incident, Rudakubana attempted to carry out violence at his former school but was intercepted by his father. Subsequently, he orchestrated the fatal attack at a dance class, leading to severe consequences for the victims and his family.

Following the devastating event, his family went into hiding, distancing themselves from Rudakubana’s actions. The Community Church in Southport, attended by the family, emphasized that Alphonse had no involvement in the church’s activities.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, the church clarified that Rudakubana’s son had no participation in their services and expressed sympathy for the family’s distress. For safety reasons, the family was relocated to an undisclosed location after Rudakubana’s arrest and charges.
