“Teen Found Guilty in Granny Murder Plot”

Must read

A young man has been found guilty of murder for orchestrating a heinous plan to rob and kill his girlfriend’s grandmother. Uriah Lee Urick Jr. was convicted on November 7 for the killing of 61-year-old Tammy King in February. The prosecution presented evidence during the trial, including text messages and digital communications, indicating that Urick and his girlfriend, Tara King, conspired to carry out the robbery and murder.

Text messages revealed in court detailed discussions between the teenagers about kidnapping and murdering Tammy while stealing her money, drugs, and weapons. The court was informed that the couple falsely accused Tammy of mistreating them. Prosecutors emphasized specific messages as evidence of premeditation, such as references to ammunition that could cause severe harm and plans to commit the crime at a specific time.

Tammy was shot on February 5 at her residence in Bacliff, Texas, and her body was discovered days later following a welfare check. Investigators alleged that after the murder, the teenagers stole money from a secure container, leading to a capital murder charge. Financial transactions revealed significant amounts of money transferred from Tammy’s account to Tara’s Cash App.

Court documents disclosed that Urick’s mother and stepfather expressed concerns about his potential for violence. Following the murder, Urick and Tara fled and were eventually apprehended near the US-Mexico border. A witness testified about driving the couple to their location and later cooperating with authorities to locate the murder weapons.

Despite the defense’s argument that the killing was not premeditated but a consequence of drug-influenced decisions, Urick received a life sentence without parole for capital murder. Sheriff Jimmy Fullen stated that justice had been served, and Tara King is set to face trial for capital murder in January 2026.
