Sunday Brunch’s Tim Lovejoy halts show as he announces line-up change after guest ‘pulls out’

Must read

Sunday Brunch presenter Tim Lovejoy announced a last-minute change during the show’s latest episode on Channel 4, promptly telling the audience that there’d been a tweak in the guest roster.

Tim explained: “Before we start, I just want to wish The Lumineers well. They had to pull out. They’re currently on vocal rest. They were going to be on the show.”

Fortunately, musician Victoria Canal was available to fill in. Tim revealed that the singer was initially booked for a future slot on Sunday Brunch, reports the Express.

He expressed his gratitude to Victoria, saying: “You rearranged everything, so thank you so much for coming on the show at such short notice.”

Tim then enquired how quickly Victoria found out about her updated appearance on the show. She recounted: “I flew into London yesterday, and when I turned on my WIFI, there was a slew of messages like, ‘Is this going to work? Can we make this work?’ We made it work.”

Victoria went on to recall a pivotal piece of advice from a past music teacher. She shared: “I had a music teacher a long time ago, like 10 years ago, who said to me, This will stay with me forever. He said, ‘It’s sad to be ready and not get the call, but it’s tragic to get the call and not be ready.'”.

Impressed by the sentiment, Tim praised the wisdom behind her teacher’s words as brilliant. He then reminisced about a similar situation that Sunday Brunch experienced with The Madness as guests.

He informed Victoria that the scheduled artist had to cancel, and the band’s lead singer, Suggs, wondered if they could fill in.

Tim was taken aback by the request, recounting: “He (Suggs) said, ‘That’s what I want to do, sing, that’s my job’ So he said to me, ‘If I can get our keyboard player, Mike from the band, out of bed, can we do it!'”

Expressing his gratitude to Victoria for her last-minute assistance, he noted she must be suffering from jet lag after her flight. When asked about her whereabouts before arriving in the UK, she answered: “Seattle, the (coffee) was pretty good. It’s warmer there than it is here, actually. But, I went skiing and had a lot of hot chocolate while I was there.”

In another segment of the show, Dancing on Ice star Fern McCann discussed her stint on the ITV show, particularly how it has transformed her physique.

She observed: “It’s definitely changed. I feel like I’ve never eaten so much because you’re training a lot, and your mind, even though it’s physical, is learning a new skill.

“So, I need the energy, I’m eating more. Before I signed up for Dancing on Ice, anyone who had done it before and the coaches all spoke about the ‘ice skating booty’ because you’re constantly in a squat position; you’ve got to have bent knees. I really feel like the ice skating booty is looking good!”

Sunday Brunch continues weekdays on Channel 4 from 10am.
