A shooting incident at a prominent shopping center in the United States led to the facility being placed on lockdown. Police quickly responded to the Wolfchase Galleria Mall in Cordova, Memphis, Tennessee, after witnesses heard several gunshots and were evacuated. The authorities confirmed that one individual was shot during the incident.
According to reports, the Memphis Police Department spokesperson stated that the situation was under control and deemed an isolated occurrence, ruling out an active shooter scenario. A significant presence of law enforcement officers, including Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers, Shelby County sheriff’s deputies, and Memphis police officers, could be seen outside the mall near the Macy’s entrance.
Eyewitnesses recounted hearing gunfire upon exiting an elevator, prompting an immediate lockdown of the mall until they could safely leave the premises. Allegedly, the suspect fled the scene in a white SUV, and the lockdown was lifted as the individual exited the building.
Although there were unconfirmed reports from FOX13 suggesting that the victim had succumbed to the injuries, the suspect was reportedly apprehended. The situation is still developing, and further updates are pending.
