Shabana Mahmood has strongly rebuffed Nigel Farage’s insinuation that she was vying for a spot in Reform UK by unveiling her new asylum policy changes.

When questioned about Farage’s remarks welcoming her to Reform UK, Mahmood dismissed his remarks, stating she was solely focused on her duty as Home Secretary to mend the broken asylum system and bridge divides in the country.
Farage viewed Mahmood’s stance as an opportunity to join Reform and expressed skepticism about her ability to garner support within her own party and navigate European human rights laws.
Critics, including Labour peer Lord Alf Dubs and Enver Solomon from Refugee Council, have criticized Mahmood’s proposals, expressing concerns about the harsh treatment of asylum seekers and the lack of compassionate politics in her approach.
