Must read

Renowned actress Ruth Jones from Gavin & Stacey and The Missing star James Nesbitt have been confirmed to join the cast of Netflix’s upcoming thriller, based on a novel by Harlan Coben. The production, set to kick off in Manchester and the north west this month, will be an eight-part series adapting Coben’s bestselling book, Run Away. The storyline revolves around Simon, who faces a tragic unraveling of his seemingly perfect life following his daughter Paige’s disappearance and subsequent involvement in a harrowing situation that leads to the exposure of dark secrets.

James Nesbitt takes on the lead role of Simon, alongside Ellie de Lange as Paige, Minnie Driver as Ingrid, Alfred Enoch, Annette Badland, Tracy Ann Oberman, and Ruth Jones. Ruth Jones, acclaimed for her portrayal of Nessa in the latest Gavin & Stacey Christmas special, sheds light on the reason behind the show’s conclusion alongside James Corden.

In addition to Ruth’s role in Run Away, the series marks the return of lead writer Danny Brocklehurst, known for his adaptations of Harlan Coben’s works like Stay Close and The Stranger. The announcement of the cast has generated excitement, with Danny expressing his enthusiasm for the project’s emotional depth and talented ensemble.

Harlan Coben’s fans have been treated to multiple Netflix adaptations of his novels, with more projects in the pipeline besides Run Away. While Coben’s stories are typically set in the US, the adaptations have often been filmed in the UK, including locations in Manchester, Bolton, Lancashire, Morecambe, and Blackpool.
