Russian Official Threatens UK Defense Sites; Tensions Soar

Must read

A high-ranking Russian official has issued fresh threats against the United Kingdom, revealing specific targets within the country. Dmitry Rogozin, a senator with a military background who previously held positions as deputy premier and head of the space agency, cautioned that numerous defense-related locations in Britain are at risk of being attacked.

The provocation followed criticisms from Rogozin and Vladimir Solovyov towards former British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace, who suggested strategies to render Crimea inhospitable from a Russian perspective. In response, Rogozin posted a map identifying British defense sites as potential Russian targets, emphasizing the need for Ukraine to possess capabilities to impact Crimea strategically.

Solovyov, known for his Kremlin-scripted television tirades, echoed the aggressive sentiments by highlighting potential British targets for destruction. He disparaged Wallace, labeling him in derogatory terms and insinuating the deployment of Russia’s Poseidon underwater nuclear drone against the UK.

The escalating tensions also included threats of a clandestine attack by Russian special forces on a World War II shipwreck in the Thames estuary, laden with explosives. The potential strike was framed as retribution for alleged British involvement in disrupting Kremlin oil facilities in Ukraine.

Historically, the SS Richard Montgomery shipwreck remains a danger with its substantial explosive payload, prompting concerns of catastrophic consequences if disturbed. The situation was characterized by a historian as a pressing issue requiring immediate attention to avert potential calamity.

The escalating rhetoric and threats underscore the mounting geopolitical tensions between Russia and the UK, raising concerns about the potential for further hostilities and provocations.
