“Rumored Rivalry Quashed: Meghan Markle and Anna Wintour’s Embrace at Paris Fashion Week

Must read

Meghan Markle was captured sharing a warm embrace with renowned Vogue leader Anna Wintour at Paris Fashion Week. The Duchess of Sussex ventured to the French capital alone, her first European visit in three years, attending the glamorous fashion event for the first time without her husband, Prince Harry, who was notably absent as she showcased an all-white ensemble at Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2026 womenswear show.

Despite past rumors of discord between Anna and Meghan, the pair put on a friendly display for the cameras, exchanging pleasantries as Anna complimented Meghan on her appearance. The moment of affection between them seemed to dispel ongoing speculations of tension following rumored disagreements at Vogue over Meghan’s alleged requests.

Meghan’s involvement as a guest editor for a special British Vogue edition in 2019, which swiftly became the fastest-selling issue in the magazine’s history, highlighted her collaboration with former editor-in-chief Edward Enninful. However, reports of disagreements arose over Meghan’s supposed demands for editorial control, leading to a rift between her and Enninful.

Allegedly, Meghan sought to feature on the covers of both the US and UK Vogue September issues, but her conditions clashed with the magazines’ existing plans, resulting in her requests being unmet. Despite Enninful’s refusal, Meghan reportedly turned to Anna Wintour in a bid to secure dual covers, but the attempt was unsuccessful, causing further strains in their relationships.

The fallout from the disagreements led to the cancellation of the planned feature, leaving Enninful disappointed. While reports suggest a significant strain between Meghan and her former associates, conflicting accounts exist regarding the status of their friendship. Despite the disagreements, both parties reportedly maintain a cordial relationship, occasionally exchanging gestures of goodwill.

Analyzing their recent meeting at Fashion Week, body language expert Judi James indicated that their interactions appeared more formal than friendly, despite outward displays of camaraderie. While Meghan has yet to feature on the cover of Vogue, her sister-in-law Kate Middleton has previously secured a feature, with recent rumors suggesting Kate was offered an influential cover feature with editorial control, though these claims were later disputed by Anna Wintour.
