Vladimir Putin has conducted a successful test of a nuclear torpedo with the capability to render vast coastlines uninhabitable, which he described as a major achievement. The Russian leader tested the new weapon, similar to those found in the US and UK nuclear arsenals, that can generate radioactive tsunamis, posing a threat to entire coastlines. Putin expressed satisfaction, stating that they were able to launch the torpedo from a carrier submarine and activate the nuclear power unit, showcasing unprecedented technological advancement.
The torpedo, named Poseidon, was declared by Putin to surpass the power of the Russian-developed Sarmat intercontinental missile, also known as Satan II. This recent test follows a series of tests conducted by Russia, including the launch of the “Flying Chernobyl” missile just days prior. General Valery Gerasimov confirmed the successful testing of an experimental cruise missile, the Burevestnik, also known as “Skyfall” by NATO, which is equipped with a nuclear reactor and possesses the capability to travel unlimited distances while evading defense systems.
The testing of these advanced weapons was interpreted as a strategic move towards Donald Trump after the breakdown of plans for a meeting in Budapest regarding the conflict in Ukraine. In response, President Trump mentioned the presence of a US nuclear submarine near the Russian coast, downplaying the significance of Russia’s missile tests. Trump emphasized the need for ending the prolonged conflict in Ukraine rather than engaging in missile testing activities.
