Must read

OVO has announced a winter support package worth £56 million, offering free energy-saving products to customers in need. The package includes items such as electric blankets, smart sockets, and home efficiency kits. Additionally, OVO is providing support like free energy upgrades such as loft insulation, new boilers, or heat pumps.

For those facing financial difficulties, OVO is offering enhanced support such as direct debit reductions, emergency credit top-ups, and extended repayment plans. While the support is available year-round, applications for enhanced winter support will start in October. OVO has already provided £190 million in assistance since 2022, aiding 42,000 customers last year.

CEO of OVO, David Buttress, emphasized the importance of supporting those in need and highlighted the necessity of improving the energy system for everyone. Warm Welcome Campaign Director, David Barclay, expressed satisfaction in collaborating with OVO to provide essential support in safe and comfortable environments.

Vikki Brownridge, CEO of StepChange debt charity, praised the partnership with OVO for helping customers cope with energy bills during the colder months. The initiative aims to assist individuals in managing energy arrears and financial difficulties. As winter approaches, energy bills are expected to rise, with the Ofgem price cap increasing from £1,720 to £1,755 a year starting October 1.

A recent survey by OVO revealed that 91% of people are concerned about their winter bills, with 71% expressing higher levels of worry compared to last year. This underscores the importance of the support provided by OVO and its partners to help individuals navigate financial challenges during the upcoming season.
