An online personality known as the “human Barbie” was discovered deceased and partially unclothed at the residence of a government official.
Barbara Jankavski Marquez, 31, was tragically found dead after a 51-year-old public defender informed authorities that he had engaged her for “intimate services” the previous evening. The official, who resided at the location where the deceased influencer was located on Sunday, alleged that they had consumed substances as she began coughing frequently and eventually fell asleep while watching TV in the Lapa district of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The official stated that he attempted to revive her for approximately nine minutes before realizing she was unresponsive, prompting him to contact emergency services. Medical personnel pronounced the influencer deceased around 9pm, observing her lying on her back in only underwear, with an injury to her left eye and marks on her back.
A female acquaintance of the public defender, aged 43, disclosed to investigators that she had been at the residence earlier that day but was not present when the “human Barbie” passed away. She recounted witnessing the influencer slip and sustain an eye injury around 4am.
Law enforcement disclosed that the incident was classified as a suspicious death and mentioned that they are awaiting forensic and toxicology reports to determine the cause of death. Both witnesses are expected to be summoned for further interrogation, and family members of the influencer will be interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
Barbara, who went by the online moniker “Boneca Desumana” (‘Inhuman Doll’), boasted a substantial following of over 344,000 on TikTok and 55,000 on Instagram, where she documented her extensive cosmetic procedures. She underwent a series of 27 plastic surgeries totaling more than £43,000 (BRL 300,000), including procedures like liposuction on various body parts, breast and buttock enhancements, eyebrow lifts, and multiple rhinoplasties to achieve her doll-like appearance.
This incident follows the tragic death of another influencer and actress who was believed to have been brutally murdered shortly after a live stream by a prominent supporter. Yoon Ji-ah was physically assaulted and strangled to death before being abandoned in a suitcase in the mountains on 11 September.
Yoon had been filming on Yeongjong Island, Incheon, South Korea, which is approximately a three-hour drive from where her body was ultimately discovered. Her body was later found deserted in a grassy area on a mountain in Muju County, with an autopsy report determining that her cause of death was asphyxiation due to neck compression.
