“Nestle Introduces Recyclable Paper Tub for Quality Street Chocolates”

Must read

Nestle has once again revamped its Quality Street tubs for the second consecutive year. The renowned chocolate manufacturer has officially announced that Quality Street chocolates will be packaged in paper tubs, aligning with Nestle’s broader initiative to make all packaging recyclable by 2025.

Introduced last year, Nestle rolled out the eco-friendly eight-sided paper tubs, sparking mixed reactions among shoppers. While some expressed a preference for the traditional tins, others embraced the new design, labeling it as a positive move.

Consumers will have the option to purchase the paper Quality Street tubs at selected Tesco stores starting in October, alongside the continued availability of plastic tubs.

A Nestle representative informed The Sun that Quality Street will reintroduce paper tubs at chosen Tesco outlets this Christmas season. The decision reflects the brand’s ongoing assessment of shopper preferences and commitment to enhancing packaging sustainability.

In the previous year, over 200,000 paper tubs carrying approximately 150 tonnes of Quality Street sweets were distributed to select Tesco stores. Nestle emphasized that the paper tub exudes luxury with its gold foil embellishment, features a re-close mechanism, and is fully recyclable after use.

Quality Street made the switch from colorful plastic wrappers to recyclable paper in 2022. Jemma Handley, Senior Brand Manager for Quality Street, emphasized the careful planning and innovation behind the paper tub trial, ensuring a visually appealing design while preserving the classic taste of Quality Street sweets.

Cheryl Allen, Head of Sustainability for Confectionery Europe at Nestle, expressed pride in the Quality Street paper tub innovation, highlighting Nestle’s dedication to sustainable packaging and ongoing efforts to reduce virgin plastic usage through informed decision-making based on consumer feedback and technological advancements.
