An atrocious mother neglected and deprived her daughter so severely that the girl deteriorated to an “emaciated, skeletal state” and eventually passed away.
Kyneddi Miller’s lifeless body was discovered on a rug in the bathroom of their residence after a welfare check by the police. Investigators determined that the 14-year-old girl, residing in Morrisvale, West Virginia, had been subjected to extreme neglect by Julie A Miller, leading to her tragic demise.
Julie, aged 51, had withdrawn Kyneddi from school due to the fear of COVID-19 transmission to her elderly parents. Despite claiming she would homeschool the child, Julie resorted to cruel mistreatment instead.
Appearing in court, Julie confessed to causing the death of a child as a parent, guardian, or custodian. She is anticipated to receive a prison sentence of up to 15 years and will be mandated to register on the Child Abuse and Neglect Registry.
During the proceedings at the Boone County Circuit Court, Julie initially denied any wrongdoing but altered her plea before the trial date. Additionally, Julie’s parents, Donna Stone and Jerry Stone, faced similar charges. While Jerry was deemed unfit for trial, Donna is set to face trial in February 2026.
Donna disclosed to investigators that Kyneddi was removed from school during the pandemic. However, records showed that Kyneddi had minimal outside contact and lacked medical attention while under supposed homeschooling.
Donna asserted that her granddaughter suffered from an unspecified eating disorder and had stopped eating for months, ultimately becoming incapacitated before her death. Investigations revealed that Julie had neglected to provide sustenance to her daughter.
Prosecutor Dan Holstein stated that Julie consciously neglected the necessary care for her child. The sentencing has been postponed to February 25, 2026, at the same court in Morrisvale, West Virginia.
