“Mother Admits to Murdering Son for More Space”

Must read

A heartless mother subjected her defenseless young child to fatal abuse in order to create more space within her residence, as revealed by court records.

Amanda Mae Maison, in a twisted turn of events, has now confessed to the murder of three-year-old Matthew Maison, seven years after his tragic demise. She subjected the little boy to confinement in rooms for extended periods, physically assaulted him by banging his head against walls, and allegedly encouraged her then-partner to mistreat the child.

The merciless parent even subjected the vulnerable child to harsh disciplinary measures, referred to as “military time outs.” Matthew’s lifeless body was discovered in his bed by his caretakers. Amanda Maison and Maurice Houle, her former boyfriend, were apprehended in connection with the heinous crime.

Following an autopsy, it was determined that Matthew succumbed to injuries from blunt force trauma and potential suffocation. Maison has struck a deal with prosecutors, agreeing to testify truthfully against Maurice Houle in his upcoming trial for first-degree murder, in addition to her guilty plea.

During her plea hearing on November 5, the 33-year-old mother admitted to mistreating Matthew. Allegations suggest that the duo plotted to eliminate Matthew to make room for a child they could have together. Maison confessed to pushing her son’s head into a wall during one of the disciplinary incidents dubbed “military time-outs.”

Maison acknowledged her complicity in allowing Houle to abuse her child and actively participating in concealing the abuse from authorities. She also admitted to devising a plan to hide the circumstances of Matthew’s death from law enforcement.

In an official statement, authorities expressed that Amanda facilitated an environment where Matthew suffered systematic abuse leading to his tragic death. She and Houle were found to have collaborated in concealing the truth about Matthew’s demise from authorities.

According to St. Clair County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Joshua Sparling, it was uncovered that Maison and Houle intended to deceive authorities about the cause of Matthew’s previous injuries. Allegations include physical abuse by Houle, confinement without sustenance, and an incident where Houle placed a pillow over the child’s face as a game.

Sparling emphasized the gravity of the case, highlighting the prolonged abuse suffered by young Matthew at the hands of both defendants.

Maison also confessed to avoiding medical appointments for Matthew to prevent healthcare providers from discovering his injuries. Both defendants were charged with first-degree murder in April, with Maison pleading guilty to second-degree homicide on November 5. As part of her plea agreement, she will testify in Houle’s trial scheduled for early 2026.
