A man who had been missing for two years was discovered after unexpectedly appearing in a TikTok video. Diego Londoño, a 41-year-old philosopher and musician, had vanished in Peru, causing concern for his family. Despite losing contact with his sisters in Colombia, efforts to locate him continued for two years.
Amy Solano, an Ecuadorian businesswoman, took it upon herself to search for Diego after hearing about his situation. Following reports of sightings in Máncora, she traveled to the area. Despite an unsuccessful first day of searching, she eventually encountered a man resembling Diego in Chiclayo and shared a video on TikTok.
Thanks to Solano’s determination, Diego was located and taken into custody by the Peruvian National Police. He was found walking along the Panamericana Norte highway in the early morning of Thursday, September 25. While his family received the reassuring news of his safety, Diego expressed his intention to remain a “voluntary nomad” and not return to Colombia.
Diego spent a night and a day at the police station, where he was provided with necessities and the opportunity to contact his family. Despite being offered a psychological evaluation, he declined and showed no signs of health issues during his stay. He informed his sisters that he has no current plans to return to Colombia, a decision they respected.
The police recommended that Diego visit police stations periodically to stay in touch with his family and allay any concerns for his well-being as he plans to fly to Lima. In an interview with Éxito Noticias, Diego emphasized the difficulty of explaining his unconventional lifestyle but acknowledged the importance of his family in his life.
