“McLaren Clinches Consecutive F1 Constructors’ Titles”

Must read

McLaren has officially secured consecutive Formula 1 constructors’ championships, matching the record set by Red Bull with six races left in the 2025 season. Leading into the Singapore Grand Prix, McLaren held a commanding 333-point advantage over Mercedes, needing just 13 points to seal the title, which could be achieved by placing one driver on the podium.

During the race, Lando Norris overtook teammate Oscar Piastri in a contentious move, with both McLaren cars making slight contact but sustaining minimal damage. Norris finished third, ahead of Piastri, earning a total of 27 points for McLaren and ensuring Mercedes could not catch up. Despite George Russell’s victory and Kimi Antonelli’s strong performance, McLaren’s points haul secured their championship win.

Following the race, Norris expressed his joy over the team radio, celebrating McLaren’s victory. This victory marks McLaren’s 10th constructors’ championship in F1 history, positioning them in second place on the all-time list, surpassing Williams. Ferrari holds the record for the most championship wins with 17 titles.

McLaren, the defending champions from the previous season, clinched their latest victory much earlier in the 2025 season compared to their previous triumph in 2024. Team principal Andrea Stella highlighted the team’s early awareness of their competitive edge this season, emphasizing the need to maintain focus and maximize their potential.

The team is now in contention to challenge the all-time points record set by Red Bull in 2023, although Stella emphasized McLaren’s focus on taking one race at a time rather than fixating on records. The team is prioritizing consistent performance and maximizing their efforts in each stage of the competition.
