In the skies, a disruptive incident occurred when a passenger wearing multiple masks began shouting about gay people causing him cancer and claiming that the plane would crash.
The unsettling event unfolded last Friday on a Sun Country Airlines flight traveling from Minneapolis to Newark, New Jersey. The disruptive passenger’s behavior led to the aircraft being diverted.
Witness Seth Evans, seated nearby, recounted that the disturbance began shortly after takeoff when the passenger started ranting about being pursued by gay individuals. He expressed fear of being affected by radiation and accused gay people of causing his cancer. The passenger, donning at least 15 masks, also made erratic statements, including mentioning the presence of “Trump.”
Evans observed that the passenger alternated between outbursts of shouting and playing Candy Crush on his device. Upon landing at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago police intervened, handcuffing the unruly passenger. Subsequently, US Marshals questioned other passengers before the flight resumed to its destination.
Sun Country airline confirmed the incident, stating that the flight landed safely, the disruptive passenger was handed over to law enforcement, and passengers’ cooperation during the disruption was appreciated.
This incident follows a similar disruptive event involving a intoxicated Jet2 passenger spitting on another traveler, leading to a flight diversion and police intervention. In that case, Courtney Maich and her partner, Alannah O’Neill, were removed from the aircraft by German police after causing disturbances on the flight departing from Edinburgh Airport.
