A married couple, aged 37 and 33, allegedly engaged in sexual activity while driving at a speed of 90mph, nearly causing a major accident on a German autobahn. The incident took place on the A1 motorway where witnesses reported the vehicle swerving dangerously.
A concerned witness notified the authorities after passing the couple’s car and observing the driver and passenger in a compromising situation. Law enforcement apprehended the couple at a service station outside Münster, with the male driver facing charges of endangering road traffic.
Reports from local media revealed that the car, traveling towards Dortmund, made such abrupt movements that it forced a nearby truck onto the road’s shoulder. Although Germany’s Autobahn is renowned for its stretches without speed limits, certain sections are subject to restrictions. Approximately 30% of the roads have speed limits, with an additional 9% utilizing traffic systems for efficient traffic management.
In a separate incident in July, a driver was caught speeding at an astonishing 200mph on the Autobahn, exceeding the limit by more than 124mph. The undisclosed driver was apprehended during a routine check on the A2 highway near Burg, close to Berlin. Authorities in Magdeburg imposed a €900 (£784) fine, a three-month driving suspension, and deducted two points from the driver’s license as consequences for the reckless behavior.
