“Manchester Vigil Turns Hostile Towards Deputy PM”

Must read

Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy faced a hostile reception at a vigil held for the victims of the Manchester terror attack, with attendees shouting criticisms during his speech, as reported by the Manchester Evening News. The crowd voiced disapproval with calls of “shame on you”, “go to Palestine, leave us alone”, “you’ve allowed it to grow on the campuses”, and “you have blood on your hands”.

In response, the Deputy PM discouraged participation in weekend demonstrations, urging people to reflect with dignity and refrain from marching. Two worshippers, Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz, tragically lost their lives in the terrorist attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue, where Jihad Al-Shamie carried out the violent incident. One victim succumbed to gunshot wounds following police intervention.

Previously, Keir Starmer condemned the attack as an act of terrorism aimed at instilling fear within the Jewish community. He emphasized the importance of national unity and solidarity across all faiths in support of the Jewish community. The Prime Minister echoed these sentiments, stressing the collective responsibility to combat antisemitism and ensure the safety of the Jewish population.

Acknowledging the bravery and swift action of worshippers during the attack, the PM praised their response, stating that without their intervention, the situation could have been even more dire. Expressing gratitude for their courage and dedication, he emphasized the significance of their actions in preventing further harm.
