A man convicted of murder was found guilty of orchestrating the killing of a teenage girl who had reported him to the authorities. Lenard White, aged 37, was reported to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in Florida by Isabella Scavelli and her mother, La Shawn Pope, for sexually assaulting the 17-year-old. Tragically, just one day after the report, Isabella was fatally shot at her home by a gunman.
The attack, which occurred at midnight, was carried out by Sheldon Robinson, whose involvement led to the arrest of White, his cousin. White, facing numerous charges, including murder and murder for hire, was convicted by a federal jury in Florida.
Isabella, a high school junior actively involved in various school programs, including ROTC, was shot in the back as she tried to escape for help upon seeing the gunman. La Shawn, her mother, was also injured in the attack and witnessed her daughter’s death.
Following the incident, La Shawn was airlifted to a hospital for treatment. The weapon used in the crime was later recovered from Robinson’s backyard. Both White and Robinson have been found guilty of multiple charges and are awaiting sentencing, facing possible life imprisonment. Their sentencing is scheduled for January 30, 2026.
