“Major Piracy Platform Streameast Shut Down in Global Crackdown”

Must read

Streaming premium content for free has gained significant popularity in recent times. Amid financial challenges, more households are turning to unauthorized platforms that offer unrestricted access to sports and movies without the usual subscription costs.

The allure of accessing content like Premier League and F1 without paying is appealing to many, leading to a surge in users abandoning legitimate channels. However, this trend has not gone unnoticed by authorities and content providers.

In a move to curb unauthorized access, a significant crackdown has recently occurred, resulting in the permanent closure of a major streaming platform. In collaboration with Egyptian authorities, the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), a leading antipiracy coalition, announced the shutdown of a notorious piracy network.

Streameast, the platform in question, has been providing access to popular events such as Premier League, attracting over 1.6 billion visits in the past year alone. In addition to premier football, F1, MMA, and Moto GP content, Streameast also offered users access to piracy sites for American sports leagues like the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB.

Charles Rivkin, Chairman of ACE and the Motion Picture Association (MPA), hailed the takedown as a significant victory against digital piracy. The platform’s traffic primarily originated from countries like the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Philippines, and Germany, with users now facing content blockages.

Acknowledging the enforcement action, Cameron Andrews, Legal Director of Anti-Piracy for beIN MEDIA GROUP, emphasized the detrimental impact of piracy on the sports industry. The success of the operation underscores the importance of international cooperation and robust enforcement in combating illegal networks. beIN MEDIA GROUP reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with ACE to dismantle criminal piracy operations worldwide.
