“Lush Snow Fairy Shampoo: A Colorful Delight?”

Must read

For the past four years, I have faithfully used Lush hair care products, sticking to my tried-and-tested favorites. The combination of Big shampoo or Swell, paired with either Veganese or American Cream conditioner, has been my go-to routine after some trial and error in finding the right products that suit my hair.

When I discovered that Lush had introduced a Snow Fairy shampoo on TikTok, my interest was piqued. I was curious to know if it carried the same fragrance as the sprays, if it contained glitter, and what effects it might have on my hair—perhaps even turning it pink!

Snow Fairy happens to be one of my preferred scents from Lush, and every year when it’s available, I make sure to grab some new products without fail.

Recently, Lush launched the Super Fairy collection, a delightful mix of Super Milk and Snow Fairy, which I am absolutely obsessed with.

I can attest that the shampoo indeed smells quite similar to the spray, although slightly less sweet, which was somewhat expected.

What surprised me was the intense pigmentation of the product—it genuinely resembles hair dye!

The label advises against leaving the shampoo on dry hair for too long as it may potentially dye the hair. As someone who has never dyed their hair before, I must admit, this prospect excited me a bit.

One TikTok user, Aimee, known as @love_lushie, shared her experience with the Snow Fairy shampoo, revealing that it turned the bleached sections of her hair pink after leaving it on for an hour instead of just using it as a regular shampoo. However, she cautioned that results may vary among individuals.

The website also provides a warning that the product is highly pigmented, urging users to be cautious during application to avoid staining. I had to thoroughly rinse the shower post-use, but it was all in good fun.

Upon dispensing the shampoo onto my hand, I was taken aback by its glittery, bright pink hue, almost instantly tinting my skin. I half-expected it to leave a lasting mark wherever it touched.

With some trepidation, I compared it to my trusty ‘Big’ shampoo, contemplating whether I should switch back to it. However, I decided to proceed, lathering the Snow Fairy shampoo in my hands and adding water to wash my hair thoroughly. Similar to ‘Big’, it appeared to be a one-and-done shampoo, which I prefer.

While massaging the product into my hair, I secretly hoped for a hint of color payoff, though deep down, I knew it was unlikely given that my hair isn’t bleached.

After rinsing, my shower was left with a delightful aroma, and my hair felt exceptionally clean. Transitioning from a salt shampoo to a more traditional product was a unique experience for me.

Following my usual routine of conditioning with Veganese, I completed my shower tasks and wrapped my hair in a towel. Upon inspection, I was slightly disappointed to find no pink dye miraculously transforming my hair. Nonetheless, I was pleased with the cleanliness and fragrance.

After some styling and using the Snow Fairy hair primer, which I found even more appealing than the Super Milk hair primer, I noticed that the shampoo seemed to enhance the brightness of my hair. While I didn’t anticipate a significant change in my naturally darker blonde hair, it did appear slightly lighter than usual.

Considering how long it takes for my hair to become greasy will be the ultimate test to determine if Snow Fairy shampoo becomes a regular in my haircare routine. My current shampoo allows me to go nearly two weeks without washing, but past products have left my hair looking greasy right after washing, so personal preference plays a significant role.

Thus far, I am impressed with the Snow Fairy shampoo—it has kept my hair fresh, clean, and beautifully scented without any greasy aftermath. Priced at just £9 for a 100ml bottle, it’s definitely worth a try. Who knows, maybe you’ll achieve that coveted pink hair transformation! If you do, I’d love to hear about it!
