A human foot was discovered on a popular beach in Ibiza near a four-star hotel. The unsettling finding was made yesterday by an individual described as a foreigner while strolling along the shore in Playa d’en Bossa.
Authorities are currently investigating to determine the gender of the individual to whom the foot belongs, aiming to ascertain if foul play was involved in the person’s demise. DNA test results are anticipated to be available after several days. The incident was reported around 8 am yesterday.
Just three days prior, a decomposed body was recovered from the sea in Talamanca Bay, located north of Ibiza Town, and brought ashore by coastguards. At this point, there is no immediate indication that the foot is related to the recovered body.
Footage released by local media depicted police officers on the beach, attending to the foot after responding to an emergency call. They utilized a stick to prevent the foot from being swept away by the sea. Subsequently, the authorities had to block off the street above the beach as onlookers, including tourists and residents, gathered to witness the unfolding events.
Some individuals were guests at the nearby four-star Vibra Algarb Hotel, while others were en route to a gym in the vicinity. The discovery is thought to be connected to recent storms and unusual flooding that may have carried the foot onto the beach.
Ibiza experienced heavy rainfall last week, with additional downpours occurring this week following Storm Alice’s impact on the Balearic Islands and the Costa Blanca. Local newspapers have speculated that the individual to whom the foot belongs may have been a victim of foul play, though law enforcement is yet to determine the timing of the incident or whether the individual was previously reported missing.
One source mentioned, “The incident has stirred up significant concern among locals and visitors who were present on the beach at the time. Authorities are exploring all possibilities and are actively working to clarify the situation.”
