“Hit-and-Run Horror: Woman Sent Flying 100 Feet by Speeding Driver”

Must read

Shocking video footage captured the terrifying moment when a woman was sent flying 100 feet through the air by a car that hit her while she was crossing the street.

Following the collision, the speeding driver quickly fled the scene, leaving the 42-year-old victim on the ground with severe, life-altering injuries. The incident occurred on Princess Avenue in Hull, a bustling street lined with bars and pubs, where an Audi A3 traveling at a speed exceeding 45mph collided with the woman.

Authorities reported that the woman had to undergo three surgeries to address various injuries, including a fractured spine, a broken leg, a torn ligament, and a dislocated knee.

The driver, identified as Luke Gough, aged 36, fled the scene, and his burnt-out car was discovered half a mile away shortly after the July 31, 2022, crash. Police determined that the vehicle had sustained frontal damage consistent with hitting a pedestrian, leading to Gough’s arrest for causing serious injury through dangerous driving.

Subsequently, Gough was sentenced to five and a half years in prison at Hull Crown Court and received a lifetime driving ban after confessing to the offense. His passenger, Gemma Johnson, aged 31, admitted to obstructing justice and was given a nine-month suspended sentence for two years.

Investigations revealed that the car was traveling at a speed exceeding 45mph in a 30mph zone at the time of the accident. Evidence linking the suspects to the incident included a piece of glass found in the washing machine that matched the car’s debris and a blood sample from the Audi that positively identified Gough.

PC Fiona Graham from Humberside Police expressed disbelief at the defendants’ callous actions, stating that their reckless behavior endangered not only the woman they hit but also other pedestrians in the vicinity. She emphasized the sheer luck that prevented the incident from resulting in a fatality.
