Passenger Discovers Gun Magazine on Plane, Prompting Evacuation and FBI Involvement

A Frontier Airlines Airbus A320 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport faced an evacuation when a loaded gun magazine containing ten hollow point rounds was found near seat 7A. The discovery led to the swift removal of passengers from the aircraft as multiple security agencies, including TSA, Frontier Airlines, Homeland Security, and Police K-9 units, were summoned to the scene.

The incident also prompted a call to the FBI. Atlanta Police disclosed that a gun part labeled “K H” was detected during the boarding process for a return flight to Cincinnati.

After the magazine was removed and passengers underwent rescreening, the flight eventually departed nearly three and a half hours after the initial discovery. Images captured a member of the flight crew instructing passengers to disembark calmly.

According to a statement from Atlanta Police, the firearm magazine was found on November 9, 2025, around 4:32 PM at Frontier Airlines Gate C-6 in Concourse C. The magazine, bearing the initials “K H,” was uncovered during boarding for the return trip to Cincinnati.

Following a thorough search of the aircraft, no additional concerning items were found, and TSA conducted a second round of passenger screening. The flight resumed its journey at 7:56 PM without further incidents. The FBI was notified, although no ongoing threats were identified.

Local news reports indicated that investigators had yet to determine the owner of the gun involved in the Sunday incident. Passengers expressed their shock at the situation, with one individual, Terry Foster, remarking on the unprecedented nature of the event. Another passenger, Janyia Davis, voiced relief that the potential threat was swiftly addressed, highlighting the importance of the magazine’s removal.
