“Golf Sensation Tom McKibbin Closes Gap on McIlroy”

Must read

Golf prodigy Tom McKibbin has been making significant progress in his career since joining LIV, getting closer to rival Rory McIlroy in earnings. The talented Belfast native, who previously earned less than McIlroy on the European Tour, has now accumulated half of his compatriot’s earnings in 2025.

Despite finishing tied for 22nd at the LIV Golf Indianapolis event, McKibbin still walked away with an impressive £150,000. This brings his total individual earnings for the year to around £3.2 million as the season wraps up with the Team Championship in Michigan.

In addition to his individual success, McKibbin’s Legion XIII team also secured second place in the team competition at Indianapolis, earning an additional £1.1 million in prize money. With four team victories and other achievements throughout the year, McKibbin’s total LIV earnings for 2025 add up to approximately £6.3 million.

While McIlroy has out-earned McKibbin on the PGA Tour this year, the gap between the two has significantly narrowed compared to previous years. McKibbin has managed to more than double his career earnings from the European and PGA Tours combined since joining LIV, although he still has a way to go before reaching McIlroy’s £80 million PGA Tour earnings.

Despite the earnings disparity, McKibbin has shown impressive growth and success in LIV, out-earning even seasoned players like Phil Mickelson this year. With his promising performance and high-caliber teammates, McKibbin is poised to become a formidable contender in the golfing world.

Joining LIV as a newcomer this year has proven beneficial for McKibbin, as evidenced by his achievements and progress on the leaderboard. Team captain Jon Rahm’s successful defense of his individual championship further highlights the strong performances within the team.

As the season concludes, McKibbin has secured his spot among the top performers, showcasing his potential for future success. While he still has a long way to go to match McIlroy’s legacy, McKibbin’s rapid rise in earnings and rankings bode well for his future in the sport.
