“Freevee App Shutdown: Amazon Shifts Content to Prime Video”

Must read

Users of Fire TV Stick for entertainment will lose access to a popular app soon. Amazon had previously announced the shutdown of the Freevee app, and the closure is now scheduled for the end of August. Starting September 1, 2025, the Freevee app will cease to function on Fire TV Sticks, iOS, and Android devices.

Freevee, Amazon’s ad-supported platform offering free movies, TV shows, and live broadcasts, hosts popular shows like Jury Duty, Alex Rider, Bosch: Legacy, and Hell’s Kitchen USA. To streamline services, these shows will transition to Amazon’s Prime Video app. Users will need to download Prime Video and sign in with their Amazon account to continue watching the content.

A popup within the Freevee app notifies users that Prime Video will become the new exclusive destination for Freevee’s content. The Freevee app will remain accessible until August 2025. Users will be able to watch Freevee Originals, movies, shows, and live TV on Prime Video for free without a subscription. However, some content may require a Prime subscription or one-time payment.

After September 1, all Freevee users will be redirected to the Prime Video app. For existing Prime Video subscribers, consolidating all Amazon content in one app may offer a more convenient viewing experience.
