Father’s Death on Pirate-Themed Boat Party Raises Safety Concerns

Must read

A distraught daughter has shared the tragic experience of her father’s sudden death during a pirate-themed boat party overseas, raising concerns about the safety of such excursions.

Nakita Colville, 27, from Woking, Surrey, was onboard a ‘luxury pirate ship’ cruise with her family and around 600 other guests when the incident occurred. Her father, Peter Colville, went missing after entering the sea at the second swimming spot and was later discovered face down in the waters of Turkey.

Witnessing her father turning purple, Nakita and her sister, along with other guests, attempted to rescue him from the water. However, she noted that the staff on the boat appeared unconcerned and failed to provide CPR assistance. Despite the severity of the situation, the party continued without seeking immediate help for Peter.

The yacht trip, known as Legend Big Kral, offered various activities such as foam parties and entertainment. Nakita mentioned that it struck her as odd that the staff did not verify guest details upon boarding the vessel.

Describing her father as safety-conscious, Nakita recalled his observation that the crew did not follow standard safety protocols like checking names, distributing wristbands, or obtaining waivers. Despite this, Peter joined the festivities and went for a swim before the tragic turn of events.

Peter, a father of six and grandfather of seven, was an experienced snorkeler and swimmer. Nakita was shocked to hear screams at the swimming station and witnessed the distressing scene of her father being pulled out of the water. Despite his apparent good health, Peter’s sudden demise remains unexplained even after postmortem examinations in the UK and Turkey.

Following the emergency, Peter was transported to a hospital by the coastguard, and his family disembarked from the boat. Tragically, he was later pronounced dead. Nakita later learned that the party continued at the hotel despite the traumatic incident.

Concerns have been raised about the handling of the situation by the boat crew, with guests criticizing the lack of proper emergency response and emotional support. Investigations into the cause of Peter’s death are ongoing, and Nakita believes that without better regulation of party boats overseas, more tragic incidents could occur.
