Family of Epstein Victim Criticizes US Ambassador Appointment

Must read

The family of a victim of Jeffrey Epstein has criticized the appointment of Peter Mandelson as US ambassador, citing his connections to the disgraced financier. Mandelson was dismissed by Keir Starmer after leaked emails revealed his supportive communication with Epstein despite the latter facing legal consequences for his actions.

The victim, Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide earlier this year, alleged that Epstein abused her in the early 2000s. She also accused Prince Andrew of sexual misconduct on multiple occasions. Prince Andrew denied all allegations and settled with Giuffre out of court without admitting liability.

Although there is no evidence of Mandelson meeting Giuffre, her family expressed strong disapproval of his appointment as ambassador. They believe it reflects a broader issue of systemic corruption.

In response to questions about Mandelson’s suitability for the role, Giuffre’s brother criticized the decision, highlighting concerns about accountability and integrity within government systems.

The controversy has raised doubts about Starmer’s judgement in appointing Mandelson, with claims that crucial information about Mandelson’s associations was not fully disclosed during the vetting process. The Prime Minister was reportedly unaware of certain details until later on.

Before Mandelson’s appointment, the Prime Minister received a vetting report containing information on Mandelson’s ties to Epstein. Mandelson was questioned about his interactions with Epstein, including staying at Epstein’s residence during the latter’s incarceration.

While Mandelson maintains he was truthful about his connections with Epstein, sources from the Prime Minister’s office suggest otherwise, claiming he was not entirely forthcoming in his responses. Further vetting by the Foreign Office followed these initial inquiries.
