However, MacIntyre stumbled out of the gate with early bogeys and continued to struggle, dropping shots on the fifth hole. This allowed Scottie Scheffler to take the lead by the seventh hole and eventually secure a two-shot victory.
Expressing his frustrations after the round, MacIntyre admitted to feeling the urge to vent his anger on his golf clubs due to his unexpected poor start. Despite his struggles, his overall performance was sufficient to secure a place on Team Europe for the upcoming Ryder Cup and a prize fund of £1.6m, joining the likes of Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood.
On the other hand, Scheffler also confirmed his place in the Ryder Cup team for the USA, alongside other notable golfers. The upcoming Ryder Cup is set to commence on September 26 at Bethpage Black in New York, with Team Europe aiming to defend their title against the Team USA.
