“easyJet Expands: 11 New Destinations from Newcastle Airport”

Must read

British vacationers are set to have access to 11 additional destinations with easyJet in the near future. The low-cost airline is expanding its summer 2026 offerings, effectively doubling its coverage from the region. This move coincides with the establishment of a new base at Newcastle Airport, a strategic decision expected to bring about 1,200 employment opportunities, including 130 direct roles.

Presently, easyJet operates eight routes from the North East, connecting travelers to various cities in Europe. However, starting March 2026, passengers will enjoy a wider selection of destinations across Europe and North Africa. The new Newcastle Airport hub will be supported by a fleet of three aircraft.

Leon McQuaid, the airport’s director of aviation development, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded services, particularly highlighting the addition of a new direct route to Nice among the 11 new destinations. The influx of low-cost seats and package holiday options will offer passengers increased flexibility and value when planning their summer trips.

The upcoming routes include flights to Antalya, Nice, Enfidha, Faro, Malta, Dalaman, Reus, Corfu, Prague, and Sharm El Sheikh. Each destination will have specific flight schedules, catering to different travel preferences. The announcement of these new routes reflects easyJet’s commitment to enhancing connectivity options for travelers in the North East.

In a related development, Ryanair recently disclosed plans to reduce flight capacity in certain Spanish regions and the Canary Islands this winter. The decision, according to Eddie Wilson, Ryanair’s CEO, is anticipated to have adverse effects on investment, connectivity, tourism, and employment in these areas due to the economic challenges posed by the current situation.
