“Drones Force Aalborg Airport Shutdown”

Must read

Denmark’s Aalborg Airport ceased operations due to the presence of drones in its airspace, as confirmed by local police. This incident follows a recent disruption at Copenhagen Airport, which had to temporarily shut down after drones were sighted in the vicinity, causing significant disturbances on a Monday evening. Reports indicate that up to three autonomous unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were detected flying over Aalborg Airport, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.

The drone-related closure at Aalborg Airport echoes similar events, such as the cyber attack that led to disruptions at Heathrow Airport and other major European airports last week. Consequently, numerous flights were either canceled or delayed over the weekend, with some airports still grappling with the aftermath of these delays in the current week.

Furthermore, Oslo airport in Norway also faced a temporary closure lasting three hours due to a drone sighting in its airspace. In response to these incidents, Denmark’s Prime Minister hinted at the possibility of Russian involvement in the drone activities.

The shutdown at Aalborg Airport has resulted in the suspension of several incoming and outgoing flights, affecting a total of four flights, including two SAS flights, one Norwegian flight, and one KLM flight, according to Aalborg Airport officials. Nordjyllands Police released a statement on X platform confirming the presence of drones near the airport and the subsequent closure of airspace for security reasons, with ongoing investigations by law enforcement authorities.
