“Cursed Thai Hotel Abandoned, US Influencer Explores Ruins”

Must read

In one of Thailand’s picturesque regions, a once-promising hotel met a series of unfortunate events that ultimately led to its downfall, leaving locals convinced it was cursed. The Galaxy, resembling a stranded cruise ship, was intended to be a seven-story attraction to draw in tourists.

After its closure, the abandoned hotel became a magnet for urban explorers eager to uncover its eerie secrets. Among them was Joshua T Yozura, a US social media influencer who documented his visit to the site located on Koh Chang, Thailand’s third largest island.

Originally a US Navy vessel transformed into a Thai ship by a wealthy individual with dreams of a floating hotel, the resort now stands deserted in the heart of Koh Chang Lagoona. Once a hotspot for tourists, the hotel boasted luxury amenities like plush carpets and chandeliers, but now lies in ruins, with its once pristine exterior tarnished by rust.

Despite its intriguing history, the hotel’s demise was attributed to various factors, including angering locals by removing a sacred Banyan tree for its construction. Reports of guests falling ill or meeting unfortunate accidents only added to the hotel’s reputation as a cursed place.

Beset by tropical challenges like mosquito infestations and high humidity, the hotel struggled to attract guests, eventually closing its doors to visitors in 2012. Subsequent financial difficulties and a decline in tourism sealed its fate, culminating in a mysterious fire that destroyed the ship in December 2024, leaving behind only charred remnants and a legacy of folklore.
