Two young children, a nine-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, are facing severe charges after allegedly raping and scalping a five-year-old girl in Ohio, US. The victim, who is autistic, went missing from a relative’s home in Cleveland on September 13 and was later found unconscious and injured in a nearby field.
The accused girl appeared in court wearing a mask and a pink coat with a hood, accompanied by a woman who is not her mother. The girl’s attorney denied the charges on her behalf, while the assistant county prosecutor requested home detention with an ankle monitor as a minimum precaution.
Meanwhile, the boy’s attorney requested a continuance due to his mother’s car breaking down, leading to a rescheduling of the arraignment. The victim’s mother, devastated by her daughter’s condition, described the horrific injuries suffered by her child, including scalping, bruises, and blood all over her body.
The mother recounted her daughter’s traumatic experience waking up in the hospital, where the child believed she had died. Disturbing images revealed the extent of the girl’s injuries, prompting a plea for justice from the victim’s family. The court is considering a competency evaluation for the girl to determine her understanding of the charges against her, while the boy faces potential consequences for missing his arraignment.
