Caroline Flack‘s friends are reportedly “devastated” after their relationship with her family broke down.
One of her pals hit back after Caroline’s mum, Christine, questioned why the TV host was left alone in her flat on the night of her suicide. The new documentary, which will be shown on Disney+ later this year, follows Christine as she “attempts to uncover the truth” about the circumstances leading up to her daughter’s tragic death at the age of 40. The doc features first hand testimony from several of Caroline’s close friends and family.
Christine Flack said: “I still have so many questions about what happened to Caroline in her final months, and it’s something I feel deeply compelled to explore, even though I know it will be challenging. I’m pleased to be working with the team at Curious Films once again, in the hope of bringing clarity and understanding to Carrie’s story – not just for her, but for everyone who cared about her.”
But some of Caroline’s friends are said to have been left heartbroken, amid new reports the grieving mother has cut them off, despite previously being close to them. As the fifth anniversary of Caroline’s death draws closer, the new documentary prompted anger from her pals, who feel they’re being treated unfairly after doing everything they could to help her.
The Mail reports that a close friend of celebrity hair stylist Lou Teasdale, who was with Caroline hours before she died, asked why it was ‘down to’ her to look after Caroline. They said: “Where was her family?” The friend added: “Louise had to get back to her young daughter, she couldn’t stay any longer. They [Lou and pal Mollie Grosberg] had been with Caroline for hours and hours and they tried to get her to go to hospital but she wouldn’t.
“They remained at her flat to make sure she was OK but they couldn’t stay there indefinitely, so they went. Christine was once so close to Lou but not any more.”
Meanwhile, Mollie has previously said she would ‘never get over’ what happened that night. In an interview with BBC Breakfast in 2021, she said: “She is with me every single day, I think everyone who was close to her probably thinks about her everyday.” The Mail’s source added about Mollie: “She was a good friend to Caroline. She would have done anything for her.”
Christine also seemed to take a swipe at ITV’s decision to replace Caroline on ITV2’s Love Island with friend Laura Whitmore. She told The Sun: “I watched Love Island because Carrie was in it. Now, it’s horrible when the advert comes up and the girl that’s taken her place is all in almost the same dress, in almost the same pose. I think ITV2 could have done it a little differently. They could have done it out of respect.”
Christine’s tireless campaigning to get to the truth took a step closer after the Independent Office of Police Conduct urged the Met to reopen its investigation into the case against the tragic TV star. The watchdog has recommended the force’s Directorate of Professional Standards interview an officer who was at Caroline’s 2019 arrest, shortly before she killed herself.
